HSE & Compliance Manager - Civil Construction

The Role Convil Group is seeking an experienced HSE & Compliance Manager to lead our health, safety, environmental and compliance functions. This is a hands‑on, site‑engaged role suited to someone who understands civil construction and can build, maintain and implement management systems while supporting project teams across multiple sites. Please note: This position does not offer sponsorship. Only applicants with full Australian working rights will be considered. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement and monitor the company's integrated management system (WHS, Quality and Environmental) Manage internal and site‑based compliance including audits, inspections, investigations and corrective actions Work closely with project engineers, site supervisors and subcontractors to maintain high safety standards Prepare and maintain SWMS, JHAs, induction materials, risk assessments and safety documentation Monitor compliance with ISO standards and assist with audits for ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 Provide training, coaching and support to site teams and promote a positive safety culture Prepare regular compliance reports, KPI summaries and improvement recommendations for management Ensure civil works meet NSW WHS legislation, environmental requirements, traffic management obligations and client specifications Support tenders and project documentation with safety and compliance inputs when required Skills and Experience Minimum 3 years experience in a civil construction HSE, WHS or compliance‑based role Strong understanding of WHS legislation, codes of practice and civil construction safety requirements Experience working with or managing ISO‑certified systems Ability to communicate confidently with site teams and promote safe work practices High attention to detail with strong reporting and documentation skills Tertiary qualifications in WHS, safety, engineering or a related discipline are preferred Civil construction sector experience (roads, infrastructure, excavation, utilities, remediation) is essential 2‑3 years of civil construction sector experience in roads, infrastructure, excavation, utilities, or remediation is required Benefits Opportunity to grow the role within a developing civil construction business Supportive team environment and direct access to management Diverse project exposure across the Sydney region Immediate start available for the right candidate #J-18808-Ljbffr
