What you'll do: As a Senior Revenue Advisor, you will play an integral role in shaping policy interpretation, providing high‑level technical guidance, and ensuring compliance across multiple areas of revenue administration. Your day‑to‑day activities will involve engaging with both internal teams and external clients to deliver clear advice on complex legislative matters. You will be responsible for preparing authoritative documents such as public rulings while also mentoring colleagues through quality assurance processes. By maintaining strong stakeholder relationships and proactively researching legislative changes, you will help drive continuous improvement within the division. Success in this position requires not only technical proficiency but also a collaborative approach that supports team goals, fosters knowledge sharing, and contributes positively to organisational culture. Provide comprehensive written and verbal advice to stakeholders on complex interpretation and practice issues relating to legislation administered by the office and related laws. Undertake detailed research, prepare insightful papers, and make well‑considered recommendations regarding interpretation and practice issues within the scope of state taxes, royalties, fines, and grants. Prepare authoritative public rulings and other practice statements that clearly set out the Commissioner’s interpretation and practice for relevant legislation. Issue private rulings on select matters under specific acts such as the Duties Act 2001, ensuring clarity and compliance with legislative requirements. Handle legislated rulings involving intricate issues such as corporate reconstruction with accuracy and attention to detail. Coach and mentor division staff through thorough review processes and quality assurance of draft advice, recommendations, and decisions to foster knowledge sharing. Review internal and external materials—including approved forms and web content—to ensure they meet all legislative standards for compliance. Proactively maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of law and practice relevant to administered legislation through ongoing research. Analyse current practices critically to identify strategies that support both present needs and future business directions of the organisation. Actively contribute to team development by building a positive, participative culture aligned with organisational objectives while managing effective relationships with stakeholders. What you bring: To excel as a Senior Revenue Advisor, your background should reflect substantial experience in interpreting complex legislation within taxation or similar regulatory environments. Your interpersonal skills will allow you to communicate nuanced information clearly while nurturing productive relationships across teams. You bring an analytical approach combined with sound judgement when making recommendations or drafting official documents. Experience mentoring others demonstrates your commitment to collective success while your openness to feedback ensures ongoing personal growth. Demonstrated experience in statutory interpretation with an ability to analyse complex legal frameworks relating to taxation or revenue administration. Strong verbal communication skills allowing you to explain intricate concepts effectively to both internal teams and external stakeholders. Proven ability to undertake detailed research into legislative matters while synthesising findings into actionable insights or policy recommendations. Experience coaching or mentoring colleagues through review processes or quality assurance activities within a regulatory or advisory context. A collaborative mindset with proven capability in building enduring relationships that enable cooperative delivery of customer‑focused outcomes.
