Special Projects Support Officer (Identified) Are you organised and community-minded? Join us as a Special Projects Support Officer, supporting the First Nations Prevention Lead. 31st October, 2025 ABOUT US The Women's and Girls' Emergency Centre (WAGEC) is a non-government, not-for-profit, charitable organisation that supports clients in crisis and advocates for social change in the community. By 'client', we refer to all women (cis and trans), families and non-binary people comfortable in women-centric spaces. We work across Sydney, on the lands of the Gadigal, Wangal and Dharug people of the Eora Nation and our Prevention activities extend across many Aboriginal nations and language groups. We seek always to work respectfully in partnership with communities and in accordance with local protocols. For over 45 years we have been doing this work in partnership with community, business and government stakeholders. Every night, we support 200 clients impacted by homelessness, domestic violence and systemic disadvantage. Equally, we seek to address the underlying causes of gender-based violence through primary prevention activities to end gender-based violence in a generation. PROGRAM OVERVIEW - ALL IN All In is a multi-year primary prevention of gender-based violence program that works directly with adults. We engage early childhood education professionals, families, communities and other influential adults, giving them the skills, knowledge and confidence to actively challenge gender stereotypes that impact negatively on children in the early years. All in contributes to the primary prevention of gender-based violence in NSW through delivering gender equality and respectful relationships education to influential adults in early childhood education and community settings. It supports the prevention of violence by providing influential adults with practical tools to support children in developing healthy, respectful relationships and valuing people of all genders from their early years. The All In program is a major strategic and policy initiative funded and endorsed by NSW Government under the Pathways to Prevention Strategy . THE ROLE This is an Identified role for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People. The Special Projects Support Officer provides dedicated administrative, coordination and project support to the First Nations Prevention Lead in the delivery of the First Nations Stream of All In. This role ensures the effective planning, coordination and reporting of First Nations activities, including community consultations, stakeholder engagement, program events and the development of culturally relevant resources. The role requires centring cultural safety and working in a culturally-responsive way, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a respectful and timely way. Full-time, 12-month fixed term contract with a view to extend. Some travel may be required throughout NSW. This role will be based at WAGEC’s Gadigal Head Office. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE ARE Support project delivery by coordinating timelines, logistics, and resources, while monitoring progress and escalating issues as needed. Support the creation and maintenance of relationships with government, the community sector, and local community stakeholders to support positive outcomes for First Nations people. Provide executive and administrative support to the First Nations Prevention Lead, coordinating schedules, meetings, and documentation, while managing sensitive information and assisting with reporting. Proactively contribute to WAGEC’s overall culture and impact. ABOUT YOU You will have: Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities Strong knowledge and understanding of cultural safety, cultural protocols Experience in administrative or project support in a community, not-for-profit, or related setting. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. Experience coordinating meetings, events or stakeholder engagement activities.
