Short Description PostgreSQL DBA Salary Range 108,571 - 119,893 (Annual Gross) Location Sydney, Australia Roles and Responsibilities Expertise in RDBMS software installation, database server builds, patching, upgrading, configuration, and troubleshooting of PostgreSQL. Implement Disaster Recovery plans using streaming replication, logical replication, and backup tools like pgBackRest or Barman. Implement High Availability in PostgreSQL using tools such as Patroni, repmgr, or Pacemaker with streaming replication. Apply database encryption methods for PostgreSQL. Perform database backup, restore, recovery, statistics updates (VACUUM ANALYZE), index rebuilding & reorganization (REINDEX, CLUSTER), replication, foreign data wrappers, and routine maintenance. Monitor instances and configure alerts with Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or other PostgreSQL monitoring solutions. Optimize queries and tune performance using EXPLAIN ANALYZE, pg_stat_statements, and system monitoring tools. Automate day‑to‑day activities with Python, Bash, or other scripting languages. Monitor and troubleshoot streaming and logical replication setups. Respond to and resolve database‑related problems reported by customers. Prepare knowledge articles and share day‑to‑day practices with the team. Essential Skills Tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline. Preferred Skills Providing 24X7 support and maintenance for all database instances of OLTP/OLAP. Additional Skills Strong communication and management skills; experience coordinating onsite/offshore and client engagements.
