Paralegal Victorian Department of Families, Fairness & Housing Overview Paralegals support the Statewide Child Protection Litigation Office’s (CPLO) teams of solicitors who provide legal advice, case management and representation for the child protection program. Reporting to the Team Leader Child Protection Litigation Support and working alongside the Metropolitan South Moorabbin CPLO team, duties include file and record management tasks, coordinating court listings, case allocations, barrister briefing and assisting with legal correspondence. The role may also require travel to various Children’s Court locations to support legal teams. Responsibilities Assist with office processes including data entry and management of documentation in LEX, TRIM, OurBriefings, Children’s Court of Victoria, and other IT systems; prepare matter management reports. Process and follow up invoices; assist lawyers to ensure external legal spend remains within agreed budget. Answer queries, provide timely advice, and undertake general follow up action as required, including correctly redirecting incoming mail and queries. Assist solicitors in the management of child protection litigation, including drafting and preparing forms, documents, correspondence, and other material for the purpose of litigation. Brief counsel appropriately in matters in the Children’s Court, Family Court and other jurisdictions as required. Qualifications & Requirements Applicants are required to submit a CV and cover letter (max 2 pages) outlining suitability to the role in line with the Key Selection Criteria. Candidates must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa. Work eligibility will be checked as part of the recruitment process.
