Environmental Officer

Overview InfraBuild is looking for an early to mid-career environmental professional who wants broad exposure across compliance, fieldwork, sampling, stormwater, groundwater, and practical problem-solving. This is a development role with the opportunity to grow under the guidance of an experienced National Environmental Manager. The Environmental Officer will provide support to the Environment Manager and wider operations team in implementing and maintaining environmental management systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and supporting continuous improvement across the organisation’s national operations consisting of 21 sites in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA. Responsibilities Analyse and interpret environmental data to support decision-making and compliance reporting Maintain accurate environmental records and databases Assist with environmental monitoring (stormwater, groundwater, emissions) Support regulatory compliance (EPA, DAF, councils) Help coordinate environmental projects across multiple sites Incident investigations and corrective actions Inspections, checklists, site improvement Support ISO14001 activities (if relevant) Qualifications & Requirements 1–3 years’ experience in environmental or sustainability roles Keen to learn and develop technical and regulatory skills Able to work across diverse industrial sites Enjoys problem-solving, getting hands dirty, and working with operations teams Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field A full driver’s licence and own vehicle Demonstrated ability in data collection, analysis, and reporting Excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret technical information in areas of responsibility Key Benefits Generous parental leave: 20 weeks paid primary carer leave and 3 weeks paid partner leave for those who have worked at the business for at least 12 months Access to long service leave after 5 years: Employees not covered by an Enterprise Agreement can access accrued Long Service Leave at the rate of 1.3 weeks per year of service after 5 years of continuous service Employee Benefits Program: discounts on a wide range of products and services Corporate rates for private health insurance We are a 2025 Circle Back Initiative Employer – we commit to respond to every applicant About InfraBuild InfraBuild is Australia’s leading integrated steel manufacturing, distribution and recycling business, making steel using our electric arc furnaces.
