What You’ll Be Doing Centacare North Queensland is seeking a Remote Operations Manager to join its Executive Leadership Team , providing strategic and operational leadership across a diverse portfolio of critical community services in Mount Isa and surrounding remote communities. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced, values-led leader who is motivated by impact, complexity, and purpose and ready to lead from the front in one of Australia’s most unique regional environments. Based in Mount Isa , this role leads a broad service portfolio that includes: Communities for Children Homelessness, Homestay & Crisis Accommodation programs Reconnect and HIPPY programs Cloncurry Neighbourhood Centre Site-based leadership and oversight of remote and rurally located teams You will be accountable for operational performance, governance, staff leadership, and service quality , while also acting as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and a visible leader within the local community. This role suits a leader who is comfortable balancing strategic thinking with operational reality , and who understands that leadership in remote settings requires adaptability, humility, and strong relational skills. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Providing operational and strategic leadership across multiple community service programs Leading, mentoring, and supporting program managers and multidisciplinary teams Ensuring services operate within governance, funding, and compliance frameworks Acting as the senior site-based leader for Mount Isa and the surrounding regions Contributing to organisational strategic planning and executive decision-making Supporting staff wellbeing, WHS, and culturally safe practice Maintaining strong relationships with funding bodies, community partners, and stakeholders Responding to operational issues in real time, including crisis situations when required This is not a “desk-only” leadership role - you will be visible, accessible, and actively involved in service delivery environments when needed. To view the full position description, click here Why This Role Matters As the Remote Operations Manager , you will hold responsibility for some of Centacare North Queensland’s most critical programs, including homelessness, family and children’s services, community development, and remote service delivery. You will not be managing from a distance. This is a hands-on executive role , embedded in the community, supporting frontline teams, responding to real-time operational challenges, and helping shape the strategic direction of Centacare North Queensland as a whole. You will be one of three members of the Executive Leadership Team , reporting directly to the Executive Director and contributing to organisation-wide planning, governance, and decision-making What You’ll Bring to the Table You are a senior leader with contemporary currency , not someone stepping away from practice. You bring: A Bachelor-level qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or a related social sciences field (or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience) Significant leadership experience within community, human services, or statutory environments Demonstrated success leading teams and programs in complex, high-accountability settings Strong operational, governance, and stakeholder management capability A genuine capacity to work cross-culturally and respectfully within diverse communities A leadership style grounded in humility, integrity, and collaboration , not hierarchy Most importantly, you can clearly articulate why this role, why Mount Isa, and why now .
