Underground Geologist

The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Underground Geologist to join our Technical Services team at Centurion Mine. Reporting to the Geotechnical and Geology Superintendent, you'll play a key role in providing geological support to underground operations, ensuring accurate geological modelling, and contributing to safe and efficient coal production. Key Responsibilities Conduct underground mapping, face sampling, and structural interpretation to support production activities. Assist with geological modelling, coal quality control, and reconciliation. Monitor strata conditions and contribute to strata control and geotechnical integration. Support mine design and planning through accurate geological data interpretation. Maintain geological databases, records, and reporting systems. Provide relevant geological input in risk assessments and provide timely advice to operational teams. Liaise closely with mining and technical teams to optimise resource recovery and operational efficiency. Short term and long term exploration borehole planning. About You Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Science, or a related discipline. Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in underground coal mining geology (longwall experience preferred). Proficiency with geological modelling and data software (e.g. Vulcan, Deswik, acQuire, or equivalent). Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment. Valid Australian working rights and willingness to work under a FIFO/DIDO roster model. Ability to obtain a Queensland Coal Board Medical and Standard 11. Why Peabody?
