Carbrook Centre is seeking expressions of interest for a full or part-time teacher for Term 4, 2024 or Term 1, 2025. This position would be suitable for a secondary or primary trained teacher with experience in trauma informed approaches and inclusive education. The ContextCarbrook Centre is a Christian independent, co-educational special assistance school catering to students from Year 7 to Year 12 who have disengaged from mainstream schooling. The school's Governing Body is Transformed Futures. Currently, 36 students are enrolled, all requiring substantial or extensive support. Carbrook Centre offers an individualised, relational, and holistic approach to education, specifically designed for students with disabilities, as well as social and emotional challenges often due to childhood developmental trauma. The school is committed to meeting the needs of its students through the Neurosequential Model of Education (NME), which is integrated with animal-assisted learning, trauma-informed practices, and restorative approaches.

The RoleThe role of Teacher at Carbrook Centre is to supports students in areas of academic learning and wellbeing. The Teacher requires a high-level of knowledge and skills in supporting with complex needs including students impacted by complex trauma and specific disabilities. Reporting to the Head of Campus, the Teacher will collaborate with their team to plan, teach, assess and report using following the school education program. The Teacher is required to be a reflective practitioner who is motivated to implement best practice and strive for continual improvement.

The ideal candidate will build strong, trusting relationships and celebrate the successes of the team.Flexible and calm in nature, with the ability to co-regulate students in the school environment and use strategies to support students with their regulation needs.Qualifications & experienceRegistered Teacher with Queensland College of Teachers (QCT).Bachelor of Education (Primary, Secondary or Special Education)Aptitude for work with students at risk or with complex needs.It is desirable for the candidate to have one or more of the following:
