The Opportunity As our Organisational Capability Manager, you will play a pivotal role enabling our researchers to grow and succeed at every stage of their careers. You will help shape the systems, capability frameworks and culture that allow our people, particularly our research community, to do their best work and progress with confidence. Working closely with researchers, operational teams and the People & Culture team to design practical, inclusive tools and frameworks tailored to the unique realities of a research environment. Your work will directly strengthen career pathways, support talent development and contribute to strategic initiatives such as our SAGE Athena Swan action plan and wider people experience strategy. Your Responsibilities Include Design and maintain a capability framework for research and support roles Build clear, transparent and motivating academic and non‑academic research career pathways Lead the development and implementation of performance, development and promotion frameworks that help researchers understand how to advance and thrive Refresh people policies to ensure clarity, inclusion and best practice Lead People Experience and SAGE surveys and turn insights into action Support initiatives that improve engagement, onboarding and offboarding experiences Oversee organisational capability programs that equip people leaders to better develop and support their research teams Support implementation of the SAGE Athena Swan action plan Facilitate co‑design workshops and present frameworks to diverse audiences What We Need From You Experience designing capability models, career pathways or development frameworks, ideally in research or academia Strong understanding of research career pathways and organisational development principles Excellent facilitation, communication and project management skills Ability to influence across all levels and build inclusive people programs Strong leadership capability and experience in HR partnering or generalist roles Knowledge of ER/IR legislation and enterprise agreements Experience in the research sector and working with behaviour profiling tools (e.g. DISC) is desired Questions?
