Job title: Legal Administrator WA Reporting to: Managing Lawyer WA Environmental Defenders Office (EDO) is the largest environmental legal centre in the Australia Pacific dedicated to protecting our climate, communities and shared environment through access to justice, groundbreaking litigation and law reform advocacy. The opportunity We are looking for a Legal Administrator to play a key role in supporting the Region WA team and contributing to the smooth running of our Boorloo / Perth office. This role involves coordinating day‑to‑day operations, providing vital support to our lawyers, and working collaboratively with colleagues across EDO to achieve meaningful outcomes for our team and the communities we serve. Candidate profile You are an experienced legal or administrative professional who thrives in a dynamic, purpose‑driven environment. You have a keen eye for detail, support lawyers to deliver meaningful outcomes, are highly organised, proactive and comfortable managing competing priorities in a fast‑paced setting. You communicate clearly and professionally, liaising with clients, colleagues and external stakeholders with confidence and care. You will be passionate about contributing to EDO’s mission and excel working both independently and collaboratively as part of a supportive team and wider organisation. Key selection criteria Essential requirements Experience providing administrative support within a legal or professional services environment. Demonstrated ability to work productively and meet multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. Strong oral and written communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with others. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy without sacrificing efficiency. Intermediate Excel skills and proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications. Excellent organisational and administration skills. Substantive experience (desirable) Experience with legal file management systems. Experience in a community legal centre. Experience in Environmental Law, Human Rights Law or Native Title. Personal qualities and cultural competency A champion of the EDO values. Strong initiative and self‑motivation. Commitment to the protection of the environment and related human rights. A strong sense of ethics and understanding of professional obligations. Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of First Nations peoples and people from diverse cultural backgrounds, orientations and life stages.
