Our team is growing, and we’re now seeking a Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Manager to lead and mature our HSEQ systems, culture, and performance across all operations. You’ll play a critical role in shaping our safety culture, not just ensuring compliance, but inspiring belief. This is a leadership position reporting directly to the Managing Director and working closely with the corporate services and Project teams. About the Role This role blends strategic influence with hands‑on leadership: 60% office‑based: refining our Integrated Management System (IMS), reporting, training, and governance. 40% site‑based: mentoring Project and Site Managers, auditing, and leading proactive risk and safety initiatives. You’ll manage one Safety Advisor and collaborate with our leadership team to continuously improve processes, standards and performance. Your work ensures our projects are not only compliant, but exceptional in safety, environmental stewardship, and quality outcomes. Key Responsibilities Lead, implement and continuously improve the Melrose Built HSEQ Strategy and Integrated Management System (IMS). Partner with Project and Site Managers to embed safe systems of work and drive accountability at all levels. Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to strengthen capability across the business. Oversee audits, risk assessments, investigations, and corrective actions. Manage statutory compliance, ISO certification programs, and internal governance reporting. Lead the Safety Advisor and ensure consistency in hands‑on site safety support. Drive change management and engagement to shift from compliance to ownership. Report to the Managing Director on HSEQ performance, trends, and improvement initiatives. About You You’re a confident and collaborative HSEQ leader who builds trust across all levels — from boardroom to site. You take a practical approach, understand construction realities, and know how to coach people toward better safety and quality outcomes. You’ll bring 5–7+ years’ experience in HSEQ management within Tier 3 or higher commercial construction. Proven success in implementing and embedding an Integrated Management System (IMS). Deep working knowledge of WHS, Environmental and Quality legislation and standards. Lead Auditor accreditation in ISO 45001 / 9001 / 14001. Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (or equivalent). Experience driving change and cultural improvement within construction environments. Strong leadership, communication and coaching skills.
