Medical Education Registrar – The Royal Children’s Hospital The Royal Children’s Hospital is a cornerstone member of the Melbourne Children’s Campus, partnering with Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics and The Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation. It has cared for children and young people in Victoria for over 150 years, providing paediatrics and adolescent health services plus tertiary and quaternary care for the most critically ill and medically complex patients across Victoria, Tasmania, southern NSW and other states around Australia and overseas. With more than 6,000 staff and a budget of $850 M, the hospital operates 12 wards and 350 beds and annually handles over 300,000 specialist clinic appointments, 90,000 emergency department presentations and 20,000 elective surgeries. Position The Medical Education Registrar will work closely with the Medical Education Team to develop and design education programs for junior medical staff at the hospital. This role offers an opportunity to further develop clinical education skills and understand the training required for developing clinicians in their area of expertise. The team develops and oversees organisational orientation arrangements and targeted educational opportunities for all junior medical staff (JMS). Formalised orientation sessions ensure that all JMS have the necessary training and support to safely and effectively commence work at the RCH, with the two largest cohorts being February and August each year. Ongoing JMS education programs are conducted throughout the clinical training year, including weekly teaching for junior resident medical officers (JRMOs), a podcast series for registrars, skills training and clinical simulation.
