HarperCollins Publishers has an exciting opportunity for an experienced book editor to join the HarperCollins Adult Books Team. This is a full‑time position, based at our head office in Sydney’s CBD. The role Editing and project-managing a range of adult fiction and non-fiction titles, from delivery of the manuscript to sign-off for approval to print. Essential skills and experience Minimum five years’ experience as an in‑house book editor in a book publishing company Superior knowledge of English grammar, punctuation and spelling Willingness to work to tight deadlines and budgets Great attention to detail Activities include Liaising with the book’s publisher and following briefs Structural editing Copy editing Proofreading Setting up and keeping to each book’s schedule Picture research and fee negotiation Assembling material for picture sections Obtaining and checking copyright permissions Liaising with colleagues in other departments, especially Production, Typesetting and Design Liaising with authors and illustrators Proofreading book‑related material for other departments, if required Assisting fellow editors, if required If this sounds like you, apply now.
