Our purpose is to improve electrical safety and reduce the risk of death and injury from electric shock, fire and explosion. We work with Queensland's electrical industry to help keep all Queenslanders safe around electricity, at work, at home and in the community. What We Do Make sure electrical safety laws and standards are followed. Manage workers' and contractors’ electrical licenses. Register, accredit and certify electrical equipment. Provide electrical safety information, education and training, including electrical product recalls and safety alerts. A vacancy currently exists for a Director of Supply, Networks and Licensing team within the Electrical Safety Office (ESO). Candidates are encouraged to submit applications for consideration; the position may be based at any of the OIR office locations. Responsibilities Develop and lead the strategic direction of regulatory strategy, framework, and operations for the electricity supply industry, renewable energy and energy storage industries, and private electricity networks. Provide high level strategic advice and make recommendations to the Executive Director and other key stakeholders on contemporary, contentious, and emerging issues within the scope of the role. Lead the regulation of electricity generation, transmission, and distribution networks; prescribed electricity entities; and high voltage and hazardous area installations under the Electrical Safety Act (2002). Lead the development of policy frameworks and legislation, information and advice, and responsive delivery strategies for electrical licensing. Lead the team in a challenging and changing environment, promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability, and service delivery excellence. Build and maintain strategic relationships and partnerships with external stakeholders, including the electricity distribution, transmission and supply industry, prescribed electricity entities, registered training organisations, industry associations and unions, and other regulatory authorities and departments. Lead the development and program management of proactive electrical safety projects for the ESO. Lead the development of innovative strategic business plans that align to the 5‑year Plan for Electrical Safety and the business goals of OIR and report on robust performance metrics. Represent OIR in state and national forums, ensuring effective negotiation on electrical safety issues and establishing linkages with relevant stakeholders and networks. Ensure the effective management of resources and finances to ensure sustainability and compliance with OIR requirements. Ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of the team(s) over which you have responsibility.
