The opportunity IFYS Foster and Kinship Care Cairns has an exciting opportunity for a Foster Care Support Coordinator to join the team. What's on offer? Fixed term full‑time employment, ending 29th of January 2027 Work based in Cairns $100,700 base per annum + superannuation – IFYS is committed to gender pay equity Excellent not for profit salary packaging options (package up to $15,900 per FBT year) Join a positive, supportive and inclusive work environment and team Unique in‑house training opportunities including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training, Preventing Child Sexual Exploitation and Sanctuary training Free access to the CALM Premium App + personal travel discounts through Flight Centre Access to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Responsibilities of the role Support the recruitment, training and screening of Foster Care applicants Complete assessments of foster and kinship carers capacity to meet standards of care, report findings to Child Safety Support carers to provide ongoing care that is emotionally and physically safe, developmentally appropriate, nurturing and engaging to foster growth and resilience Meet all compliance requirements set by Child Safety for HSQF licensing purposes Provide support to children in regard to placements, targeting specific issues through appropriate therapeutic interventions relevant for their care plan Conduct assessments and developing individual care plans for each child in care in collaboration with key stakeholders Conduct home visits for all families, with additional ongoing regular email, phone, and in‑person support Support families and children to develop natural links and connections with their family and community Create and develop functional links with community organisations, professional services, alternate care networks Take part in the on‑call services and attend community events to recruit carers Requirements for the role Professional experience working with children and families in a therapeutic environment Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or a related field required Exceptional time management and prioritisation skills Understanding of child protection and statutory intervention services Demonstrated knowledge of strengths‑based and client‑centred practice Well‑developed communication skills, including report writing Must hold or be willing to obtain if successful Valid QLD driver's license with no restrictions QLD Working with Children Check (Paid Blue Card) Licensed Care Suitability Check (LCS2) National Crime Check (IFYS will complete a new check through our systems) Ability to provide two recent line manager references (including your current employer ) If you would like further information on this role, please call 3*** and ask to speak to Tamara in the Recruitment Team.
