Kickstart your career in Planning with Inner West Council. This hands‑on role lets you earn while you learn, gaining valuable skills while completing a Diploma in Local Government (Planning) (LGA50120). Over 24 months, you’ll be part of a fully supported program that combines on‑the‑job training with online study (potentially scheduled in the evenings). Invest in your future with confidence You will need to pay the first semester’s cost (around $2,184) upfront, but we’ll reimburse you progressively for every unit you complete until your qualification is finished. About the role You’ll work alongside qualified planners, providing valuable support for the assessment of planning proposals, strategic plans and development applications. You will liaise with internal and external stakeholders, carry out site inspections, review technical documents, submissions, learn techniques to prepare reports to Council and Senior Management in accordance with Council’s policies while building practical skills that will set you up for a successful Council career.
