Description Graphic Designer – part-time, 4 days per week (18-month contract) Cancer Council NSW is Australia’s leading cancer organisation and our vision is to change the path of cancer and make sure no one walks alone. About the team The Cancer Information team operates within the Cancer information and Support Services (CISS) division. The Cancer Information team produces printed, online, video and podcast resources for people with cancer as well as their families, carers and friends. As part of the Commonwealth-funded Australian Cancer Nursing and Navigation Program (ACNNP), Cancer Council will deliver a national cancer navigation service, expanding our existing cancer information and support service ) to include new digital navigation and support offerings. During the implementation phase of the program, Cancer Council will expand the Cancer Information team to enable the provision of new and existing information resources, including tailored resources developed with priority populations and new multimodal content. About the role The role of Graphic Designer is to ensure people affected by cancer have access to information that is clear, up-to-date and accurate. The role provides high quality design and advanced illustration for all information resources in print, digital and other formats, and also liaises with digital teams, printers and other relevant production services. This is a fixed-term contract role, finishing in June 2027. This role is part time, requiring 4 days per week. Key responsibilities Design and prepare artwork for the Understanding Cancer series of booklets, fact sheets and other information resources, as agreed with by the Design Lead and Manager Contribute to the development of information in digital formats and prepare images for online channels and videos as required Work closely with editors and other designers to ensure that print and digital resources are high quality, accurate, on brand, and optimised for accessibility, reader comprehension and engagement Design and create illustrations in a broad range of styles, including infographics, icons, anatomical illustrations, and cartoon and realistic styles, as required Check printer’s proofs and samples, liaise with printer and attend press checks to ensure quality standards are met Assist with maintaining and evolving styles guides and illustration libraries, and streamlining of digital asset management About you, Essential Tertiary or industry relevant qualifications in graphic design A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the design of multi-page publications, including books and / or magazines Demonstrated advanced illustration skills Demonstrated proficiency on Adobe Creative Suite on a PC platform Excellent communication skills and ability to build working relationships quickly Experience with style guides and brand guidelines Understanding of the print production process and experience working with printers, including hard copy and online proofs and jobs on press Demonstrated ability to interpret and conceptualise creative briefs Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a dynamic and changing environment across multiple projects with strict deadlines Meticulous attention to detail Desirable Experience in the publishing industry (books or magazines) Experience in producing digital information (web content, videos, social media) and familiarity with Adobe After Effects, Canva and AI tools Experience developing content through co-design with priority populations An understanding of the issues faced by people affected by cancer Knowledge of current design and branding practices adopted by a range of other cancer and consumer health information providers About the benefits Generous salary packaging options that can increase your take home pay by paying certain expenses using pre-tax dollars up to $15,900 a year Recognised for Voice Project’s 2021 and 2023 “Best Workplace” Award, as well as Xref “Best Workplace” in 2025 A balanced organisational approach to WFH and office Additional performance-based leave available Work for purpose and know that your work fosters an engaged, diverse and culturally aware organisation Discounts available for everyday expenses such as private health, retail and fitness CCNSW is an inclusive place to volunteer and work.
