Base pay range A$135,000.00/yr - A$140,000.00/yr If you like seeing your code control something you can actually touch, move, or drive, not just simulate, this might be the job that gets you out of bed in the morning We’re looking for a Lead Robotics Software Engineer to guide a small but sharp team building reliable, real-world systems. You’ll be the one setting the technical direction, keeping things stable under pressure, and making sure what’s built today still works tomorrow. Please note for this role you must be an Australian Citizen and be eligible for Baseline Clearance + ITAR compliant. In a nutshell, you’ll: Lead a team that builds and ships production-ready software. Keep everything running smoothly through smart version control and clean releases. Work closely with hardware engineers to make software and hardware feel like one system. Set standards for code quality, testing, and reliability. Build a culture of continuous improvement and continuous delivery. Mentor engineers and help them level up. Document the important stuff clearly. You’ll need: Strong skills in C/C++, Python, and ROS. A solid grasp of version control, CI/CD, and modern development practices. A knack for collaboration and getting people working toward the same goal. Eligibility for Baseline security clearance. ITAR compliant. It’s a bonus if you’ve: Worked on robotics or other complex systems where safety and reliability matter. Had experience in startups or fast-moving environments. Built software that’s had to perform in tough, real-world conditions. We’re after someone who’s confident leading from the front, still technical, still curious, and not afraid to get into the code when it counts.
