Cooks and Chefs (Riverside Tavern Pty Ltd t/a Riverside Tavern South West Rocks) Job Type: Permanent position | Full time position Job Description Our client, Riverside Tavern, is seeking dedicated Cooks and Chefs for its busy restaurant in South West Rocks, NSW 2431. Nestled along the Macleay River in South West Rocks, Riverside Tavern has become a vibrant hub for both locals and visitors. The venue combines relaxed coastal charm with a lively dining atmosphere, attracting a steady flow of patrons who value fresh flavours and a welcoming setting. With sweeping water views and a strong community presence, Riverside Tavern is well‑positioned to grow its reputation as a regional dining destination. The kitchen is central to this experience, delivering modern Australian cuisine that celebrates locally sourced produce, seafood from the Mid North Coast, and seasonal ingredients that reflect the area’s natural abundance. The roles are full‑time with a salary ranging from 75-85K AUD per annum plus superannuation, negotiable for the right candidate. Scope of the Role Overseeing daily kitchen operations, including staff delegation, stock rotation, and maintaining accurate records. Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes, either regularly or for special functions and events. Managing production schedules and staff requirements to ensure timely service delivery. Estimating food supply needs, calculating costs for ingredients, and managing orders accordingly. Inspecting supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure adherence to established quality standards. Analysing recipes and advising prices to menu items based on food, labour, and overhead costs. Working closely with team members to execute established recipes and menus with consistency and precision, ensuring alignment with seasonal availability and anticipated customer volume. Demonstrating new cooking techniques and introducing equipment to staff for continual culinary improvement. Overseeing workstation readiness by ensuring mise en place is complete, equipment is functional, and kitchen operations are primed for service efficiency and food quality standards. Preparing and cooking dishes in strict compliance with food safety and health regulations, ensuring the highest quality and hygiene standards are maintained. Assisting in onboarding, training, and supervising new team members, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative, efficient work environment. Monitoring and enforcing sanitation practices to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including Occupational Health and Safety (WHS) and HACCP. Qualifications Be willing to relocate if you are interstate or in other cities. Preferably hold Certificates III & IV in Commercial Cookery. Be available on both days at weekends and able to work split shifts. Have at least 3 years of work experience as a Cook/Chef. Ability to work in a team. Exceptional communication skills.
