About The Role Goondi State School is seeking a dedicated and proactive Schools Officer (Grounds & Facilities) to maintain the school's exceptional grounds and facilities. Reporting to the Principal or Business Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring the school remains a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and the wider community. Key Responsibilities Maintaining school grounds, including mowing, watering, weeding, and caring for gardens, trees, and sporting facilities. Performing general maintenance tasks such as minor repairs to furniture, equipment, and facilities, as well as ensuring compliance with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) standards. Assisting with the preparation of classrooms, assembly halls, and other school spaces for events and activities, including moving and arranging furniture. Supporting security duties, waste collection, and immediate cleaning tasks as required, while liaising with internal and external stakeholders for maintenance and repairs. Managing tools, equipment, and chemical registers, ensuring safe storage and handling in line with WHS guidelines. This role would suit an organised and proactive individual with a passion for maintaining high-quality facilities and contributing to a positive school environment. About You Experience in groundskeeping, maintenance, or a similar role. Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) practices and procedures. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and external stakeholders. Basic understanding of equipment maintenance and repair processes.
