Senior Investigator - Commonwealth Bank The Group Investigations team is looking for a passionate and driven individual to fill a Senior Investigator role. This vacancy has arisen due to an internal promotion, reflecting the team's strong development culture and career progression pathways. Overview The Office of the Chief Security Office is part of Technology and includes Group Investigations, Cyber Security, Fraud and Scams, Defence Operations, Crisis Management, Protective Security and Identity and Access teams. Our purpose is to build a brighter future for all. Responsibilities Conduct investigations into insider threat misconduct, including but not limited to unauthorized disclosure of sensitive information, conflict of interest, electronic or IT sabotage, facilitation of third‑party access to Group assets, physical sabotage, theft, asset misappropriation, bribery & corruption, submission of false or misleading credit applications, serious integrity‑based issues, and criminal or unlawful activities involving employees referred by a regulator or law enforcement agency. Scope investigations considering the nature of potential misconduct, risk posed, and evidence availability. Gather and review transactional information, email, public records and other bank data systems. Undertake inquiries and analyse evidence. Conduct fact‑finding and admission‑seeking interviews with staff under investigation and factual interviews with witnesses. Deliver clear, accurate and insightful investigation reports to senior stakeholders. Conduct proactive reviews on emerging trends and produce detailed reports on identified risks. Draft briefs of evidence for law enforcement and prepare witness statements. Provide evidence in court proceedings and support regulatory engagement. Manage multiple investigations concurrently under high‑pressure situations. Contribute to a positive and inclusive culture within Group Investigations. Assist in training and continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated work experience in investigations, forensic, legal, regulatory, cyber security, or insider threat related fields. Risk mindset – ability to proactively identify, discuss and act on current and future risks. Understanding of cyber security desirable but not required. Strong communicator with excellent written and verbal skills. Experience leading investigations involving multiple investigators and stakeholders. High level of personal integrity and attention to detail. Eager to learn with curiosity for technology and openness to new ideas and methods.
