ABOUT THE HOST EMPLOYER Our host employer is a specialised joinery and shopfitting company established in 2019. Led by a director with over 30 years of industry experience, their team is passionate about producing high‑quality, innovative joinery solutions. They deliver complete cabinetmaking and shopfitting services — from design concepts through to installation — across both residential and commercial projects. Dedicated to developing new talent, they provide a supportive, hands‑on learning environment where apprentices can develop professional finishing and joinery skills using modern tools, equipment, and industry techniques. ABOUT THE ROLE This is an exciting opportunity to begin a 4‑year Furniture Finishing Apprenticeship (Certificate III in Furniture Finishing – Timber Technology) with full‑time paid work and structured on‑the‑job training. As an apprentice, you’ll learn how to prepare, finish, and restore timber and board surfaces. You’ll gain hands‑on experience assisting with the preparation and finishing of custom joinery, cabinetry, and shopfitting components for a range of residential and commercial projects. If you enjoy hands‑on, detailed work, have an eye for colour and quality, and want to build a trade career in furniture finishing — this is an excellent opportunity to start. TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES Preparing timber and board surfaces for finishing (sanding, filling, cleaning) Assisting with spray‑finishing processes Mixing, tinting, and preparing paints, coatings, and materials Operating spray guns, drying equipment, and workshop machinery Masking, labelling, and organising components for finishing Inspecting products to ensure smooth, consistent and high‑quality finishes Maintaining a clean and safe workshop environment Following WHS and safe chemical‑handling procedures Completing Certificate III coursework (with full NTHA support) WHY JOIN US?
