General Manager Engineering Brisbane or Mackay We are a privately owned engineering and industrial solutions business with a strong footprint across Queensland. Our work spans design and engineering, fabrication, electrical and controls integration, and on‑site commissioning and maintenance. We partner with operators across energy, resources, water and industrial markets to deliver practical, fit‑for‑purpose infrastructure and equipment solutions. With a growing pipeline of projects and a reputation for technical quality and reliability, we are investing in the next phase of our leadership capability. As part of this growth, we are seeking an experienced and pragmatic General Manager Engineering to lead our technical function and lift the capability, discipline and performance of our engineering team. The opportunity This is a hands‑on, influential role that will shape engineering standards, strengthen governance and ensure our solutions are safe, compliant, practical and commercially sound. You will lead a multi‑discipline team across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls and automation, and work closely with operations, fabrication, field services and commercial teams to deliver market‑leading outcomes. Key responsibilities Set engineering strategy, standards and design governance for the organisation Oversee design delivery across concept, detailed design, fabrication support, FAT and commissioning Provide technical leadership and participate in design reviews, HAZOPs and risk assessments Ensure all engineering work meets relevant codes, regulatory requirements and client specifications Partner with commercial and operations teams during bidding, scoping and delivery Build and develop a high‑performing team of engineers and designers Support troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis and continuous improvement on operating assets About you Tertiary qualified engineer, likely mechanical, electrical or mechatronics Significant experience in energy, resources, industrial equipment, heavy industry or similar environments Strong technical depth across pressure equipment, rotating machinery, electrical and instrumentation systems and automation Demonstrated success leading multi‑discipline engineering teams in a project and services environment Balanced commercial judgement, able to understand margins, cost drivers and project risk Practical, collaborative, and comfortable on site as well as in the office Remuneration Indicative package $230,000 to $260,000 base , plus super, plus annual incentive linked to safety, delivery and performance.
