Teacher Special Education - Cowra High School Cowra High School is a comprehensive school of 470 students, located in the township of Cowra, situated in the Central West of NSW. The school prides itself on the scope of the curriculum delivered to students who come from a broad range of socio-economic backgrounds. School priorities include Positive Behaviour for Learning, teacher quality, growth in numeracy and literacy outcomes for students, and improved community engagement. The school’s support unit consists of seven classes for students with mild and moderate intellectual disabilities, autism and challenging behaviours. The successful applicant to this position would join our Learning and Support Faculty. The required teacher support role includes working in an environment focusing on behavioural difficulties (BCD) and would involve working with students exhibiting a range of behavioural difficulties, requiring specialised strategies to manage their behaviour and support their learning journey. Selection Criteria Approval to teach Special Education and/or experience in teaching Special Education including teaching students with autism, mild intellectual disorder, moderate intellectual disorder, emotional disturbance and/or behavioural disturbance. Ability to develop and deliver effective and engaging teaching programs for students with disabilities. Demonstrated capacity to create a safe and supportive learning environment. High level of interpersonal skills and the capacity to work collaboratively as part of a team. Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity. Special Notes Applicants seeking either permanent full time or permanent part time employment are encouraged to apply for this position. If the recommended applicant is seeking permanent part time employment (FTE from 0.1 to 0.9 inclusive), they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE.
