Leading Hand Arboriculturist – City of Gold Coast About the Team Our Open Space Maintenance team plays a vital role in keeping the Gold Coast’s parks, streetscapes, and recreational spaces looking their best. We maintain the city’s outdoor areas to high standards, ensuring they meet agreed service levels through strong partnerships with Asset Custodians. Working through dedicated Area Coordinators, we plan and deliver maintenance programs across parklands, sporting fields, roadsides, and key public spaces. The team also provides expert advice on the construction and upkeep of park infrastructure and open space facilities, helping shape the outdoor environments enjoyed by our community every day. About Your New Role You will guide a team of arborists while carrying out a variety of arboriculture tasks that keep our parks, streetscapes, and natural areas safe, healthy, and thriving. Lead, motivate, and support a team of professional arborists Perform daily arboriculture duties, including tree pruning, removal, felling, palm maintenance, and operating EWPs Manage internal and external customer requests through the City’s SAP system Operate and maintain machinery and equipment such as MR trucks, woodchippers, EWPs, chainsaws, pole saws, blowers, and other arboriculture/horticulture tools Take pride in your work and contribute to the care and enhancement of the Gold Coast’s natural environment Successful applicants will be appointed at the appropriate level based on qualifications, skills and experience between Level 5 and Level 7 of the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream B) Award – Operational.
