About the Role Discipline: Psychologist or Social Worker 0.6 EFT – Maternity leave cover 0.8 EFT – Ongoing role Seaford/McCrae/Hastings location As a Grade 2 Counsellor/Advocate you will provide high quality trauma focused counselling and therapeutic interventions, driven by frameworks of intersectionality, gender equality, anti‑oppression, and a human rights‑based approach. This position requires a truly collaborative approach, working with clients, their families and key agencies, within the scope of current legislation and professional guidelines. Key purpose of this role includes: To provide counselling and therapeutic interventions to people who have experienced sexual assault and/or family violence To undertake evidence‑based and trauma focused assessments, case formulation, goal setting, counselling, and crisis response To work collaboratively with the client and key agencies to advocate for, assess and respond to identified risk To contribute to the After‑Hours rosters About Us The South Eastern Centre Against Sexual Assault and Family Violence (SECASA FV) is a specialist sexual assault and family violence service. As the largest family violence and sexual assault service provider across the South‑East Metropolitan Melbourne, the service offers time limited therapeutic interventions and counselling following sexual assault and/or family violence, to victim/survivors and other affected family members. The SECASA service also has responsibility for the DFFH Southern and Bayside regions. About You You are a highly skilled clinician with strong experience supporting individuals affected by sexual assault and family violence, including children. You will bring expertise in trauma‑informed care, crisis intervention, and collaborative practice with other professionals to enhance client safety and wellbeing. You would be described as someone with clear communication, strong organisational skills, and deep understanding of relevant legislation and ethical standards, demonstrating a strong commitment to continuous professional development. Your key strengths will include: Crisis intervention skills necessary for supporting people who have experienced sexual assault and/or family violence Experience working collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to enhance wellbeing and safety for clients Excellent teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills, including building trust and rapport with colleagues and external agencies Knowledge of MARAM, FVIS, CIS, and relevant legal/ethical standards Education & Licence Requirements Social Work Bachelor of Social Work or Masters Social Work Qualifying OR Master of Social Work, OR equivalent as assessed and approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) Written evidence of eligibility for AASW membership for overseas qualifications is required.
