Assistant Accountant

Due to ongoing and future growth, we’re looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our team in Dandenong South. Reporting to a highly experienced and supportive Financial Controller, you’ll work closely with a small, collaborative team of three who genuinely support one another. This is a hands‑on role where you’ll gain exposure across the full finance and accounting function, with the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution every day. This is an onsite position offering 30–38 hours per week across 4–5 days , providing some flexibility while maintaining strong team connection. Recent achievements include: 2025: Leader in Gender Equality and Inclusion , Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame Awards 2023 & 2024: Northrop Grumman Strategic Supplier Excellence Award 2023: Victorian Governor’s Export Award for Manufacturing What you’ll be doing: Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial reports, including balance sheet, profit and loss, cash flow, and inventory reporting. Manage the general ledger, ensuring accurate reconciliations for banking, inter‑company transactions, and balance sheet accounts. Assist in monitoring, analysing, and forecasting cash flow to support business decision‑making. Assist in the preparation of the annual operating budget, working closely with senior management to provide insights and analysis. Support job costing analysis and reporting, contributing to improved financial visibility and decision‑making. Oversee month‑end payroll requirements, including superannuation and payroll tax, and assist with payroll processing as needed. Maintain and update the fixed asset register, ensuring compliance and accuracy. Provide support in managing the company’s foreign exchange exposure. Supervise and coordinate the accounts payable and receivable functions to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Train, mentor, and support the Accounts Officer and other team members as required. What you bring: Professional accounting qualification with sound commercial experience. CA or CPA would be highly regarded. A positive, proactive and collaborative approach, supported by outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent relationship building skills, with a demonstrated ability to build rapport with people at all levels. Proficiency in using ERP whole of business platforms. Experience with foreign currency exchange and hedge contracts. Commercial awareness and an understanding of managing business model sustainability. Familiarity with International and US GAAP would be highly regarded, but is not essential. Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment would be highly desirable, but is not essential.
