See more at our website – About the Role Effectively identify the needs of young people in delivering targeted and goal‑driven supports that focuses on their genuine needs and aspirations. The Outreach workers effectively divert young people from becoming involved in the criminal justice system by providing evening transport from Brisbane CBD and Logan areas where young people are meeting, to a place of safety: most often home with parents or other family members. This ongoing contact with often the same young people allows us to link them into case management services to address whatever they identify they would like help within their life. The Outreach Street Worker directly assists young people during outreach coordination to access a coordinated wrap‑around suite of services with the aim to achieve behavioural changes and engagement with ATSICHS Youth Case Managers. The Outreach Street Worker respond to the coordination on shift of the Outreach Team Leader. Duties Effectively engage with young people on the streets. Turn initial 'service offerings', including transport offerings, into consent by delivering motivational interviewing and positive reinforcement practice interventions. Be upfront in explaining the rights and boundaries of the ATSICHS Outreach Program, client rights, worker responsibilities, mandatory reporting requirements, and complaints processes. Complete immediate scan and safety assessments of young people, particularly where risk is present, or danger to young person or workers. Prior to transporting young people, complete an initial 'Client Safety Screening Assessment' with clients to determine client risk and immediate critical needs. Build agency, self‑efficacy and facilitate change through youth empowerment, while actively discouraging a young person's dependence on supports. As per the nightly route schedule, drive to all locations known to frequent by young people. Engage young people and provide brief interventions and prosocial engagement of young people. Adhere to the Digital Model of Care transport safety guidelines when providing transport services. Ensure all steps are completed prior to young people entering buses. Liaise with the Child Safety After Hours Team in supporting any vulnerable young people that require transport to a place of safety. Benefits Starting base rate is $37.97 per hour (depends on qualifications and experience) + 25% of casual loading and 12% super. Casual position. Afternoon shifts (3:00pm - 12:00am). Desired Skills And Experience No required experience or qualifications, however a commitment to complete a Diploma (funded by ATSICHS) while working. Sound engagement skills of volatile young people, including the ability to de‑escalate crisis in a calm manner. Demonstrated ability to understand and apply social work theoretical frameworks of practice, aligned with ATSICHS values. Ability to deliver client interventions that build client motivation, insight and acceptance, self‑awareness, decision making (agency), and sustainable behaviour change. Ability to proactively engage with/develop strong working relationships with external stakeholders, particularly Queensland Police Service and Child Safety After‑Hours team. Ability to identify young people to internal ATSICHS programs and services to activate wrap‑around care for clients, trading‑off and negotiating resources across the organisation and between other teams to achieve client impact. COVID-19 Requirements Immunisation history showing you have received two doses of a Covid‑19 vaccine is encouraged. Required No required experience or qualifications, however a commitment to complete a Diploma (funded by ATSICHS) while working. Additional Requirements National Police Certificate. Working with a Children’s Card (Blue Card) or be eligible to apply. Current driver's licence. Evidence of Work Rights. Travel to work in the community on a regular basis.
