We are seeking an ambitious National Head of Accounts to join our team based in our Canberra office . About the Role This is an office-based role in Canberra where you will be directly responsible for the management and leadership of the Accounts Department, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality services across Australia. The role will: Candidates must hold permanent residency status in Australia. Oversee and manage financial operations, including accounting, reporting, and compliance with all regulatory requirements (BAS, Tax returns). Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets and improve business systems. Lead and mentor the accounts team, providing training, guidance, and support. Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to set KPIs, track progress, and update the leadership team. Manage external relationships with auditors, banks, and vendors, representing the organisation's financial interests in all dealings. To succeed in this role, you will have: Australian Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce. CA, CPA, or NIA qualification. Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and taxation laws (income tax, GST, FBT, capital gains). 5+ years' experience in a similar senior role in Australia. Financial controller level experience required for this senior accounting position. Proven track record of achievement with a proactive, high-performing mindset. Strong stakeholder relationship skills across all levels. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
