About The Role We are seeking a full‑time, Townsville‑based Trainee Sonographer to commence in 2026. The role is designed for post‑graduate ultrasound training, with a structured program that includes rotations through a variety of hospital departments and community‑based settings to maximise patient study exposure. Commitment to a weekend shift roster at our hospital sites is part of the training. Responsibilities Rotate through multiple medical imaging practices (hospital departments and community settings) to gain comprehensive exposure to a wide variety of patient studies. Commit to a weekend shift roster at hospital sites. Complete a 2‑year post‑graduate coursework program and a minimum 3‑year full‑time commitment after qualification. Work with highly skilled, experienced sonographers across general, obstetrics/gynecology, musculoskeletal, and vascular ultrasound. Upon qualification, join the on‑call roster and become eligible for an equitable bonus system based on productivity after one year of experience. Qualifications Bachelor of Medical Imaging (or equivalent) for entry into the program. At least one year of post‑graduation work experience. Successful completion of a 30‑minute examination and interview for entry. Strong work ethic with high self‑direction, excellent patient care, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Local to the area, or ability to commit to living in Townsville for at least 5+ years.
