About The Role We are seeking a full-time Townsville-based Trainee Sonographer to commence in 2026. We invite applications seeking post-graduate ultrasound training. Your training program will be structured to see you rotate through multiple medical imaging practices - both hospital departments and community-based settings - to allow for the best possible exposure to a wide variety of patient studies. There is also a commitment to a weekend shift roster at our hospital sites. All roles will be offered on paid, full-time basis for the duration of the 2-year post-graduate coursework, and for a minimum 3-year, full-time commitment post-qualification. You will be trained by highly skilled, experienced sonographers with an industry reputation for providing an exceptional, fully comprehensive experience across general, obs/gynae, MSK and vascular ultrasound. Upon becoming qualified you will be placed on the on-call roster, and after 1 year of experience post-qualification, you will be eligible to participate in our equitable bonus system based on productivity. The role requires the successful candidate to hold a Bachelor of Medical Imaging (or equivalent) for entry into the program and have a least one years’ experience post-graduation. The entry procedure includes successful completion of a 30-minute examination and interview. Please submit your CV, cover letter, and academic transcripts as soon as possible. The Ideal Candidate Will Possess The Following Criteria A graduate of a health-related Bachelor’s degree, with eligibility for entry into a suitable post-graduate Ultrasound course and at least one-year of post-graduation work experience. Ideally local to the area, or a candidate with the ability to commit to living in the region for at least 5+ years An individual with a strong work ethic, who demonstrates a high degree of self-direction as well as excellent patient care and communication skills. Demonstrates ability to work in both an individual and team setting Queensland X-Ray prides itself on its reputation of high standards, quality and patient care and is seeking candidates demonstrating relevant experience (in medical imaging and/or other relevant health disciplines), previous academic success, and an appropriate work ethic.
