Drive a Positive Safety Culture Across Council Operations Are you passionate about building a strong safety culture and making a real impact on workplace health and wellbeing? We’re looking for an experienced WH&S Advisor to join our team and lead the development implementation and continuous improvement of health and safety practices across all Council operations. This is a fantastic opportunity for a WH&S professional with civil works and operational site experience who thrives in a dynamic community-focused organisation. Key responsibilities Provide specialist WH&S advice and implement practical solutions tailored to operational needs. Deliver employee WH&S training and inductions particularly in high-risk or civil work environments. Conduct timely WH&S audits site inspections risk assessments and incident investigations. Promote staff engagement in WH&S through effective communication and behaviour-based safety practices. Assist with the development of Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and WH&S documentation. Lead and report on WH&S incident investigations treatment plans and corrective actions. Ensure Council maintains a compliant and effective Safety Management System. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety performance and risk mitigation. What you will bring A relevant Workplace Health and Safety qualification. Minimum 5 years experience in WH&S with strong operational knowledge of civil worksites and field-based risk management. Proven ability to develop and implement safe systems of work in a practical and sustainable way. Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with the confidence to engage stakeholders at all levels. High attention to detail, excellent communication and a proactive solution‑oriented mindset. Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast‑paced and changing work environment.
