Responsibilities Preparing financial statements and income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships, and SMSFs. Interpreting and applying Australian tax legislation (Div7A, FBT, GST, CGT) and accounting standards. Preparing activity statements, FBT returns, and reporting for charities and NFPs. Analysing business performance and providing actionable insights. Liaising with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders such as the ATO and ASIC. Providing a stepping stone to the next stage of your accounting career. The opportunity Within Nexis, we offer our staff the opportunity for development and growth within their role. This role can provide the foundation for the stepping stone to the next stage of your career. About You Minimum 4 years accounting experience in business services. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to build great rapport with staff and clients alike. Ability to work efficiently under pressure and adhere to externally driven deadlines (by the ATO) and internally driven deadlines (by stakeholders). Highly motivated individual with minimal supervision, problem solving, and initiative. Ability to prioritise your work given time and budget deadlines. Ability to demonstrate ownership of duties and client tasks, exhibiting a high level of attention to detail and accuracy, and prioritising and managing multiple tasks. Experience with or exposure to the direct involvement in the affairs of clients. Passion for growth and learning, ability and/or open‑mindedness to grow technical and soft skills and mentor junior staff. CA Qualified, or near completion of your CA program. Technical skills Strong knowledge of Australian income tax laws and legislation. Experience with the preparation of financial statements and income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships, Div7A issues, FBT, GST, and CGT. Experience with Xero or understanding of the software, including the ability to prepare financial statements and assist clients using Xero. Experience with SMSFs is favourable but not essential. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite. Qualification in Accounting. A competitive salary based on experience and skill level is on offer for suitable candidates.
