The opportunity As an Enhanced Maternal and Child Health Nurse with Hobsons Bay City Council, you’ll work closely with families who need extra support during the early years, making a real difference when it matters most. This role is all about providing tailored care through home visits, centre appointments, or community settings, promoting health, wellbeing, and positive parenting practices. You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and other services to address diverse needs, advocate for safety, and guide families through challenges with compassion and professionalism. This is a rewarding opportunity to support vulnerable families and help children thrive in a caring, community-focused environment. We currently have multiple positions in this role on offer, full or part time. What you’ll be doing Delivering high-quality health services to families with children aged 0–3 who are experiencing vulnerability, following Enhanced MCH Program standards. Providing primary health care and early intervention, including health promotion and identification of health concerns for children and families. Supporting and guiding parents with practical advice on parenting skills, child behaviour, and safety, while advocating for child and family wellbeing in line with legislation. Collaborating and maintaining records, working with health professionals and mentoring student nurses, while ensuring accurate documentation in CDIS. Engaging in professional development and team activities, including meetings, training, and continuous learning to enhance service delivery. What you'll need to succeed Division 1 Nursing and Midwifery qualifications, Child and Family Health nursing certification, and current AHPRA registration, as well as a Victorian driver’s licence and current Working with Children Check. Ability to assess family risk factors, take action to protect child and parent safety, and knowledge of referral pathways and support services. Minimum 3 years in Maternal and Child Health, with experience supporting families facing complex issues and working with diverse backgrounds. Strong ability to liaise with internal teams and external agencies, provide advice to families, and contribute to case planning.
