Off the back of some significant government project wins, Cumulus Engineering is looking for aSenior/Principal Floodplain Engineer to join our dynamic team and help shape the future of water management in Australia. Job title: Floodplain Engineer (Senior to Principal Level) Location: Remote Working – Melbourne or Geelong, VIC Salary: Earning up to $160,000 p/a + super + phone + laptop + profit share potential About the Role: As aSenior/Principal Floodplain Engineer , you’ll: Lead and manage water resource projects, including flood modelling, stormwater management, and hydrologic and hydraulic analysis. Collaborate with planners, civil designers, environmental engineers, and government stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions. Mentor junior staff and contribute to a positive, growth-oriented team culture. Help drive Cumulus Engineering’s mission to build a climate-resilient and sustainable future. Work on a diverse range of meaningful projects. Our current workload includes numerous renewable projects throughout Australia, several sporting precinct upgrades in NSW/QLD, working with Councils and Catchment Management Authorities on flood studies, supporting Melbourne Water with technical reviews and delivering environmental flow hydraulic studies. Work remotely with regular office days for team connection. Profit share potential for the right candidate, with future leadership opportunities as we continue to expand. What We’re Looking For A Chartered Civil or Environmental Engineer (or working towards it) with at least 5 years of experience in water resources, floodplain management or related fields. Must have minimum 3 years' experience in TUFLOW and Hydrologic modelling in Australia. Strong understanding of Australian water guidelines (ARR, NSW FDM, IDM etc.). Ability to lead project delivery teams and oversee quality assurance. Strong communication skills and a passion for delivering practical, client-focused solutions. A commitment to excellence, sustainability, and community resilience. Tertiary degree in environmental or civil engineering.
