Overview Department of Education Victoria – Eaglehawk VIC 1d ago , from Department of Education & Training Victoria Eaglehawk Secondary College (ESC) is a Year 7-10 college that prepares students for senior school pathways, further study and the workforce. Students from ESC progress to Bendigo Senior Secondary College for VCE or equivalent, with which ESC has a strong partnership as a member of the Bendigo Education Plan cluster schools. The college currently serves 570 students, projected to grow to 700, and was comprehensively rebuilt in 2012 with modern facilities including Learning Communities, a Design and Technology building, Performing Arts Centre, Library, Food Technology areas, Gymnasium, an Innovation Learning Centre for STEAM and a Connect Program re‑engagement facility. Student Engagement A broad range of teaching and learning strategies are used to actively involve students, supporting diverse skills, abilities and interests. Key features include: Well‑balanced curriculum offering breadth, depth, engagement and challenge. Personalised learning opportunities increasing student agency and voice. Literacy and Numeracy programs tailored for personalized learning. Applied and practical learning experiences with VCE and VET opportunities, leveraging industry standard facilities. 1:1 Netbook Program and support for Indigenous students. Design features include: Studio classrooms for up to 25 students. Interview spaces and breakout areas for collaborative learning. Specialist Arts/Science studios linked to Design and Technology, Health and Physical Education, and Performing Arts. Selection Criteria SC1: Knowledge of the relevant curriculum, literacy/numeracy teaching, and response to student learning needs. SC2: Experience in planning and implementing high‑impact teaching strategies, evaluating their effectiveness. SC3: Monitoring and assessing student learning, using data to inform practice and give feedback to students and parents. SC4: Interpersonal and communication skills, building collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the community. SC5: Demonstrated behaviours aligning with Department values, reflecting on practice and engaging in professional learning. Role The classroom teacher is primarily responsible for planning, preparing and teaching programs to meet specific student outcomes. Teachers progress from Range 1 to Range 2, with increased responsibilities in student performance improvement, policy development, mentorship and data‑driven instructional improvement. Range 2: Lead school performance initiatives, mentor teachers, provide expert advice, supervise student teachers, and use student data to guide instruction. Range 1: Focus on classroom management, subject content, and practice under general direction; support policy development and co‑curricular activities. Responsibilities Direct teaching of groups and individual students. Contribute to curriculum development, implementation and evaluation. Perform other classroom teaching‑related and organisational duties as directed by the Principal. Participate in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions. Undertake supervisory duties as required.
