MedCareersWA Job No. Consultant - Psychiatrist South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) is recruiting dedicated Consultant Psychiatrists to support community-based and inpatient mental health care across the Kwinana, Rockingham, Mandurah, Pinjarra and Waroona regions. Flexible arrangements are available, including sessional, casual, permanent full‑time or part‑time, fixed‑term full‑time or part‑time appointments with the possibility of extension and/or permanency. About the Role The Consultant Psychiatrist at PaRK MHS is responsible for the mental health assessment, treatment, and management of patients with mental health illness, including service to families and carers. Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary team (MDT) environment, you will lead the MDT in delivering specialist mental health services to patients, promote patient safety and quality of care, and provide leadership, orientation, training, supervision and ongoing education for Doctors in Training, medical officers and other health workers. You will also collaborate closely with the Director/Head of Department and fellow Consultants to achieve national, state and SMHS performance standards and targets. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and develop treatment plans. Provide clinical care in inpatient, day‑therapy and community settings, including ECT services where required. Lead and mentor MDT members, ensuring high quality, patient‑centred care. Engage with families, carers and external agencies to coordinate care and promote recovery. Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with SMHS policies and standards. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to service development. Application Requirements A copy of your current CV.
