As Supervisor City Entrances, you will play a pivotalrole in maintaining and enhancing Ballarat's entrances, roundabouts,streetscapes, and garden beds. This position ensures the City of Ballaratcontinues to be recognised for excellence in horticultural maintenance andpresentation. You will lead a dedicated team and work closely withinternal stakeholders and external contractors to deliver high standards ofhorticultural practice. Key responsibilities include coordinating maintenanceprograms, managing horticultural and irrigation assets, overseeing budgets, andensuring compliance with relevant plans and policies. This role also involves mentoring staff, schedulingresources for maximum efficiency, and contributing to long-term planningthrough master plans and improvement projects. Your leadership will help shape the city's green spacesand uphold Ballarat's reputation as a leader in urban presentation. About you We are seeking someone with: You are an experienced horticulture professional with apassion for maintaining and enhancing public spaces. You hold a Certificate IIIor Diploma in Horticulture (or equivalent) and bring at least five years ofsupervisory experience in parks and gardens operations. Your background includes managing, installing, andmaintaining a wide range of irrigation systems, as well as coordinatingprojects from start to finish. You have a solid understanding of Local Governmentoperations and the diverse maintenance activities involved in parks andgardens, coupled with strong skills in asset management and projectcoordination. With demonstrated experience in staff supervision anddevelopment, you lead teams effectively while ensuring compliance withOccupational Health and Safety procedures. A current Victorian driver's licence is essential andmaintained throughout your employment. Key Selection Criteria A Certificate 3 or Diploma in Horticulture, orequivalent or lesser qualification with relevant work experience in a similarsupervisory role. Well-developed written and verbal communicationskills for dealing with staff and the community, and the preparation of quotes,tenders, and business cases. Demonstrated practical experience in thesupervision of staff and the maintenance of City Entrances. Demonstrated ability to manage the horticulturalneeds for specific projects, floral displays, and indigenous plantings. Experience in the management, installation, andmaintenance of a wide range of irrigation system types. Experience in landscape installation and treemanagement techniques. Demonstrated ability to implement and monitoradherence to health and safety policies and procedures within a teamenvironment. Current Victorian Driver Licence.
