Head of Workplace Relations

City of Brisbane, Österreich Move Recruitment Solutions Vollzeit

About the Company This organisation operates across multiple sectors and delivers essential services through a large, geographically dispersed workforce. With a strong focus on operational excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement, the business is entering a phase of transformation aimed at strengthening leadership capability, reducing risk, and creating sustainable people and safety practices. Collaboration, accountability, and practical problem-solving sit at the core of how the organisation supports its teams and the communities it serves. About the Role This newly created Head of Workplace Relations & Safety role brings together responsibility for ER/IR and WHS, offering a rare opportunity to shape and lead two critical functions at a senior level. You will be accountable for lifting capability across employee relations, investigations, performance management, and governance, while also strengthening safety frameworks and operational discipline across a national footprint. Reporting into executive leadership, this role balances strategic oversight with hands‑on execution. You will assess existing structures, introduce clarity and cadence, and drive practical improvements that reduce risk and support operational teams. A key part of the role is providing visibility and confidence during periods of pressure — establishing clear communication rhythms, managing expectations, and ensuring leaders and regulators are aligned on progress and priorities. This role has been designed for a leader who enjoys building momentum, coaching capability, and delivering outcomes in complex, regulated environments where systems, budgets, and priorities are evolving. About You You are a pragmatic, commercially minded leader with experience across employee relations and workplace health and safety in multi‑site, service‑based environments. You are comfortable operating where systems are not perfect, navigating ambiguity, and delivering outcomes without waiting for ideal conditions or large‑scale platforms. You bring confidence engaging with regulators, external advisors, and senior leaders, and you remain calm and visible during audits, inspections, and improvement processes. Your leadership style is low‑ego and solutions‑focused — you prefer progress over perfection and are known for lifting capability through coaching, clarity, and accountability rather than control. You understand psychosocial risk and how to address it practically within operational settings, balancing compliance requirements with real‑world delivery. Above all, you enjoy leading from the front and creating structure, momentum, and confidence across teams. Why Move? This is a genuinely new leadership opportunity where you will shape how ER/IR and WHS operate together, rather than inherit legacy frameworks. You’ll have the autonomy to influence structure, set direction, and drive meaningful change from day one. With executive exposure, flexibility in how you work, and the ability to lead through complexity, this role suits a leader who wants to make a visible impact — stabilising risk, uplifting teams, and embedding sustainable people and safety practices across the organisation. Make Your Move If this sounds like you and you meet the criteria set out above, please apply through the link. Include a Cover Letter and Resume in Word format.
