Enjoy history and reading? - Spend time with isolated elderly man - Elsternwick We have an isolated elderly male living in his own home in Elsternwick who would greatly benefit from fortnightly visits. He spends his days at home alone unless he's visiting his wife who is now in an aged care facility. He was born in Poland and fled to Russia as a young child during WW2, then moved to Australia in the 60's where he raised two children with his wife. He enjoys conversation about history and current affairs and used to work in the textiles industry. Are you empathetic, caring and do you enjoy conversation? If this sounds like a great role for you, please apply Volunteer visits are usually for an hour and are flexible to work around your schedule. About you We are looking for caring individuals who can sit and have a chat, reminisce and talk about topics of interest with elderly people. Our Volunteer Coordinators will spend time with you to understand your interests and background, and work to match you with a client in a suburb nearby who shares similar interests. Your impact: Volunteering as a visitor is a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits on a fortnightly basis for a minimum of 12 months are required. Visits from volunteers help improve the quality of life and help older people feel less isolated. Your visits will bring great joy and happiness to the recipient you are matched with.
