About the Role This full‑time Cook position offers an annual salary between $76,600‑$77,000, depending on experience, plus superannuation. Key Responsibilities: Food Preparation & Cooking Prepare and cook meals following recipes and dietary needs. Check the freshness and quality of ingredients and cooked food. Portion and plate food with sauces, garnishes, and decorative touches. Use and demonstrate cooking techniques and kitchen equipment. Kitchen Operations & Supervision Plan, direct, and supervise food preparation and cooking activities in dining or catering establishments. Set work schedules and assign kitchen tasks. Train and guide kitchen staff and apprentices. Help develop new recipes and improve menu items. Ordering & Supplies Estimate food quantities and costs for planning. Order ingredients and kitchen supplies to keep operations running smoothly. Meet with suppliers to negotiate prices and place orders. Organise equipment purchases and repairs. Safety & Cleanliness Inspect food, equipment, and work areas for hygiene and safety. Monitor cleaning routines and follow health regulations. Store food properly in temperature‑controlled areas. Menu Planning & Costing Can assist in planning menus and accommodating special dietary needs. Maintain records of kitchen operations and food production. Job Requirements Formal qualifications in commercial cookery or hospitality (Certificate III/IV or equivalent). Minimum 2 years’ hands‑on experience in a commercial kitchen environment. Proven experience in food preparation, with previous work as a chef or senior cook preferred. Solid understanding of modern Australian cuisine and current culinary trends. Genuine passion for food, flavour, and high‑quality presentation. In‑depth knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen compliance standards. Demonstrated ability to manage kitchen operations and lead a team effectively. Experience in training and mentoring kitchen staff. Ability to perform well under pressure in a fast‑paced setting. Proficient in stock control, ordering, and minimizing food waste. Priority will be given to candidates with proven experience in commercial cookery, strong food preparation skills, and a passion for quality and presentation. The ideal applicant will demonstrate a solid understanding of food safety standards, contribute to menu development, and show leadership in managing kitchen operations and staff.
