Senior Psychologist – Part Time Fixed Term (Until 13 October 2026) This role is a Part‑Time Fixed Term position, 3 days per week, located in schools in the inner northern suburbs of Melbourne. The purpose of the Student Support Services (SSS) team is to assist children and young people facing a range of barriers to learning and to help them achieve their educational and developmental potential. As an SSS Psychologist, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary, area‑based team to build the capabilities of schools to support children and young people to engage in their education. The team includes psychologists, speech pathologists, social workers and visiting teachers. SSS Psychologists provide comprehensive services to schools and school‑aged students, enhancing developmental and learning outcomes and supporting student health and wellbeing. These services cover learning, cognitive, behavioural, disability, mental health, school‑to‑work transitions, self‑esteem, grief, trauma, anger management, relationships, conflict, sexuality and drug/alcohol involvement. Key Qualities and Responsibilities Expert advice – Provide guidance that influences the development of teaching and learning strategies and student wellbeing programs for school leadership teams. Communication – Show highly developed interpersonal, networking and communication skills; liaise regularly with a wide range of people in the education community and beyond. Leadership – Direct the SSS team by managing service delivery and contributing to professional supervision and direction of other team members. Flexibility – Work autonomously when required while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Expert interventions – Undertake advanced interventions that support students and schools; collaborate on complex cases and help teachers develop educational programs for students with additional needs. Qualifications and Requirements A graduate or post‑graduate qualification in psychology Full registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency (AHPRA) Valid Working with Children’s Check Travel to schools is a requirement; staff have access to departmental fleet vehicles.
