Lead Software Engineer (.NET) - Relocation to Sydney Join hipages Group as a Lead Software Engineer (.NET) and help drive the technical direction and innovation behind how tradies manage their jobs and run their businesses. This role is based in Sydney with hybrid working – 50% work from home. About the role As the Lead Engineer within the Jobs Engagement Team, you will design, build, and deliver high‑performance, scalable software that powers the human side of our product. You will work closely with software engineers, UX designers, product managers, and other key stakeholders to shape both the technical foundations of the Jobs Engagement product and the broader hipages software architecture. Responsibilities Lead the design, architecture, and delivery of robust, scalable systems. Set engineering standards, mentor team members, and drive best practices across the team. Owner API design – craft clean, well‑documented APIs for internal and external consumers. Champion operational excellence – build for clear SLOs and ensure observability, resilience, and cost‑effectiveness in production. Guide system architecture – influence patterns and frameworks that make hipages’ platform scalable and future‑ready. Drive AI adoption – integrate AI‑enabled engineering practices to improve productivity and explore product opportunities where AI adds user value. Mentor and coach – grow the capabilities of engineers through guidance, pairing, and technical feedback. About you 7+ years software engineering experience within a product‑led organisation or startup. Demonstrable experience in adopting AI‑driven engineering practices. Experience designing, developing, and maintaining .NET services and/or React applications. Good understanding of cloud‑native technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern CICD practices. Experience writing automated tests. Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB preferred) and EventSourcing & CQRS concepts. Bonus Full‑stack application experience. React Native experience.
