Selection Criteria SC 1: Specialist knowledge and expertise in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy or to provide a comprehensive service that optimises the support of students in a primary school setting. SC 2: Demonstrated capacity to provide consultation, assessment and intervention recommendations for students and to support and guide teachers and Education Support Staff in the implementation of contemporary therapeutic strategies and approaches. SC 3: Demonstrated exemplary interpersonal and teamwork skills to relate effectively to students with additional needs and collaborate with a Wellbeing Support Team to devise and deliver intervention services for students in a primary school setting. SC 4: Demonstrated sound written and verbal communication skills to engage successfully with other Allied Health Professionals, principal class members, teachers, Education Support Staff, Wellbeing Personnel, External Providers and families to support the integration of appropriate intervention strategies and programs that promote quality learning outcomes for all students. SC 5: Demonstrated commitment to own clinical supervision, professional learning and growth for self and others, as well as an adherence to Department of Education values. Role Lead the delivery of school allied health services in respect to child and adolescent functional skill development, including gross/fine motor skills for designated classes Address the complex needs of students including coordination, organisation and provision of specific staff professional learning and intervention support Develop, monitor and implement appropriate interventions and strategies following consultations and assessment Develop procedures and educate staff in the correct use of equipment and techniques that promote student independence and support safety Prepare reports for Student Disability Profile resource funding Deliver individual or group programs at various year levels, as determined via referrals Communicate with parents/guardian and external Allied Health professionals to support a holistic approach to address individual needs Maintain up to date case notes Make recommendations about specific equipment or resource requirements to support student needs Maintain annual AHPRA registration that includes undertaking 40 hour of relevant professional development per year Responsibilities An ES at this range is distinguished by the delivery of professional student support services where duties and responsibilities, relative to their professional discipline, are carried out with a higher level of autonomy and with minimal reliance on professional supervision. The position is responsible for the development and implementation of professional support programs within an educational environment, including guidance to other professional staff. An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students but must not include duties of a teacher as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students can be required where it is an integral part of the employees position or in circumstances where supervision is required individually or in groups up to 4 in controlled circumstances and where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher. A ES Range 4 performs their role in accordance with government and DET legislation, guidelines and accepted practice and protocols, including complying with all Workplace OH&S legislation, regulations, policies and procedures, and adhering to the new Child Safe Standards. Act in accordance with the agreed school values Support a positive and collaborative professional culture Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional learning Support an inclusive and culturally safe school culture, responding to any incidents of racism or discrimination so they can be addressed with appropriate consequences Deliver a professional support service in a school, including the development of policy and operational practices that will guide the work of others, including teachers Provide expert advice in the professional field, which will influence the strategic approach to student therapy support and interventions Provide information and facilitate links between external therapists and relevant services Provide leadership, training, and development for others in areas related to the professional field Utilise student behaviour support strategies consistent with SWPBS and PCMS practices Ensure active supervision whilst on break times Participate in the development or review of school policies, procedures and programs Support the achievement of School Strategic Plan/AIP key improvement strategies Undertake duties as assigned by the Principal within the scope of the role.
