One role is focused on HR systems, compliance, and continuous improvement , ideal for someone who thrives on structure and process optimisation. The other offers a broader generalist scope , including mentoring staff, managing grievances, and leading employee relations initiatives. Both roles report to the Manager of HR & Safety and play a key part in driving SWEK’s strategic people agenda. Key Responsibilities Leading HR service delivery across either systems-focused or generalist portfolios Mentoring and supporting junior HR and safety team members Advising managers on people strategy, employee relations, and workplace matters Enhancing HR systems and improving internal processes and workflows Coordinating end-to-end recruitment, onboarding, and organisational change initiatives Contributing to policy development, workplace investigations, and compliance outcomes Delivering HR support across both Kununurra and Wyndham (with some travel required) Championing a positive workplace culture, employee engagement, and staff development Partnering with industry bodies and stakeholders to support continuous improvement Supporting leadership development and succession planning during team transition What You’ll Bring To be considered in either role, you will need a tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related discipline, along with at least 3 years of experience in a similar HR capacity. We're looking for candidates who can demonstrate: Strong generalist HR knowledge, with expertise in employee relations and/or systems Confidence in supporting remote or regional teams and understanding their unique needs Proven experience mentoring others or providing leadership within an HR team While not mandatory, the following will be highly regarded : Experience working in local government or the public sector Familiarity with Western Australia's state-based industrial relations framework, or a willingness to learn Your personal qualities will set you apart: Emotional intelligence - you build trust quickly and relate to others with empathy Initiative - you take ownership, seek answers, and follow through Flexibility - you’re adaptable and thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments Community connection - you care deeply about contributing to the local community Coachability - you're open to feedback and committed to growth Team spirit - you value collaboration and bring a positive, solutions-focused mindset This is a role for a true HR all-rounder , someone who thrives on making meaningful impact , working independently, and supporting others to succeed You will also need to hold a current C Class Driver’s Licence and be willing to obtain a clear National Police Check .
