Platform Engineer- for HRI Discovery Work 7th October, 2025 Platform Engineers are part of the Solutions and Platforms team, which supports strategic data and advanced analytics platforms that ingest data from a wide range of internal and external data sources in real-time and batch, apply complex business transformation rules and create consumption optimized polyglot data assets for strategic and operational use cases. This role will play a significant part in transitioning one of Westpac’s largest data platforms to a cloud-based environment. This role requires a strong background in DevSecOps practices, automation, and cloud engineering, with proven experience in delivering secure and scalable platforms, along with the desire and ability to learn across disciplines. Platform Changes Collaborate within self‑organised Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support automated technical solutions. Drive and enhance CI/CD and DevSecOps practices in the Microsoft Azure environment to deploy and support cloud‑native services, Kubernetes workloads, and underlying Azure PaaS services. Continuously identify opportunities to automate, optimise, and simplify development, deployment, and release processes. Deploy, configure, and manage containerised applications on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) using IaC tools such as Terraform, Helm, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, JFrog Artifactory. Integrate enterprise systems, security services, and data sources with Azure‑based solutions. Implement monitoring, observability, governance, and compliance frameworks across CI/CD pipelines and Kubernetes platforms. Apply and enforce security policies, secrets management, and data protection measures leveraging tools such as HashiCorp Vault, Azure Key Vault, and CyberArk. Troubleshoot and resolve issues across infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes workloads, and cloud services. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system configurations, runbooks, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Partner with cross‑functional technology and business teams to support secure, scalable, and reliable delivery of digital and analytics solutions. Stay current with emerging DevSecOps, cloud, and automation trends, adopting innovative solutions to drive continuous improvement. Deliver robust, secure, and compliant cloud solutions that align with organisational priorities: Fix, Simplify, Perform. Demonstrate accountability by asking both “can we” and “should we” when evaluating technical and strategic decisions. Ensure that all delivery, culture, and ways of working align with Westpac Group’s Purpose, Values, and Behaviours. Position Requirements Essential Skillset, Experience and Qualities Strong background in CI/CD methodologies, processes, and tools in a cloud‑based environment, ideally Microsoft Azure. Hands‑on experience with DevSecOps pipelines leveraging Terraform, Jenkins, Bitbucket, JFrog Artifactory, and GitHub Actions. Proficiency in deploying and managing Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and container‑based applications. Deep knowledge of Kubernetes, containers, monitoring, automated governance, and compliance practices. Proficiency in programming and scripting languages, such as Python or Bash. Experience with secrets and key management solutions including HashiCorp Vault, Azure Key Vault, and CyberArk. Experience with Azure services such as ADLS Gen2, Azure NetApp Files, Azure Premium Files, and Azure PostgreSQL Flexible Server. Strong understanding of Linux/Unix operating systems. Solid background in Agile methodologies and tools (Jira, Confluence) with the ability to collaborate effectively with delivery teams. Experience in environments with a focus on security, risk, and compliance. Knowledge of Azure Role‑Based Access Control (RBAC) and cloud networking/data security best practices. Passion for technical leadership and continuous development in the DevSecOps domain. 2‑5 years overall platform engineering experience. Desirable Knowledge and Experience Familiarity with Azure data technologies such as Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, and Power BI. Experience designing cloud‑native data solutions, including serverless architectures (preferably Azure). Knowledge of DataOps and ModelOps methodologies. Experience with test automation frameworks and tooling. Experience with Apache Airflow for orchestration and workflow automation. Exposure to SAS software installation and administration, particularly SAS Viya 4 on Azure. Experience integrating SAS Viya 4 with enterprise systems and diverse data sources.
