Australia’s leading diversified infrastructure group is seeking to appoint a Head of Investments for its Energy team. Our client develops, invests in, and manages renewable energy assets across Australia and New Zealand. The Investment Director will lead the finance workstream for the Energy team’s projects and will be responsible for arranging debt and equity investments, overseeing financial structuring, negotiating risk allocation, and supporting the development of new opportunities. Role responsibilities Screen (together with the Head of Development), develop, successfully close and invest in greenfield infrastructure, energy and other complex projects: Screen energy and greenfield infrastructure investment opportunities; Facilitate consortium partner selection with evaluation of credit quality and compatibility of proposed consortium partners; Informed and transparent advice to key stakeholders regarding finance, documentation and risk allocation; Participate in commercial interactions with, and presentations to, project clients and partners on finance related matters. Support the Development team with financial modelling to underpin investment and development activities, including reporting to senior management. Securing binding finance commitments on competitive terms: Rigorously pursue alternative and innovative finance solutions that deliver value to clients; Support the General Manager and relevant Development and Project Director by assisting in selection process of advisers (financial advisor, model audit, tax and accounting), debt and equity partners Monitor and, as required, provide support to energy assets including refinancing, engagement with financiers and other strategic initiatives. Ensure financial and tax compliance; identify potential tax and compliance issues and establish measures to address these issues. Manage the review of cash flow against budget and co‑ordinate cash flow forecasts. Knowledge Advanced understanding of debt arranging, credit approval and investment approval processes. Commercial issues relevant to sponsors of, and investors in, greenfield infrastructure, PPP and energy projects with multiple stakeholders. Advanced knowledge of renewable energy development, including financial modelling and revenue forecasting in relation to solar, wind and BESS. Advanced understanding of corporate governance and risk management. Advanced equity investment and project finance skills. Experience 10 years’ experience in a similar role in the relevant industry (PPP/Energy/Construction/Engineering). Significant experience in renewable energy development. Knowledge of financial management systems and ERP’s – SAP, FPM or similar. Industry standing and demonstrable financier/investor network. Infrastructure sponsor/equity, project finance banking, financial advisory, debt arranging or infrastructure funds management experience well regarded.
