Established in 1990, the ACT Audit Office has served over three decades to provide an independent view of the ACT Public Sector, foster accountability in the public administration of the Territory and promote efficiency and effectiveness of ACT public services. The Role We are looking for financial statement auditors with the highest level of personal integrity and sound accounting, audit, investigatory, communication and interpersonal skills to join the financial audit team. As an Auditor, Financial Audit, you will contribute to ensuring strong financial management and accountability within the ACT Government through your participation in financial statement audits and limited assurance engagements. Your work will have a direct impact on community confidence in the delivery of a range of critical services, from Health to Education, from Capital Infrastructure to Social Services by the ACT Public Sector. The Auditor will typically work within a small audit team, performing assigned financial audit tasks under the guidance and supervision of senior staff. You The key to success in this role will be a combination of your prior experience in auditing and/or accounting, good communication skills and an ability to align strongly to our organisational values of: Integrity Professionalism Respect Learning and Innovation You will most likely have tertiary Professional Accounting, Audit, Data Analytics and/or Information Technology qualifications. Completion, or progress towards completion, of relevant professional post‑graduate qualifications such as accounting and audit qualifications provided by CPA Australia, CA ANZ and CISA is also highly desirable. Eligibility / Other requirements Relevant tertiary professional accounting, audit, data analytics and information technology qualifications are highly desirable. Completion, or progress towards completion of, relevant professional post‑graduate qualifications is also highly desirable (e.g. CPA, CA and CISA). Notes There are several Permanent Full‑Time Positions available from February 2026. Based on your experience and expectations, you will be offered a competitive remuneration between $78,755 to $100,956 plus superannuation per annum, effective from 04 December 2025. Additional benefits include generous leave provisions and payment up to two professional membership fees. The conditions of employment of staff are contained in the ACT Public Sector Management Act 1994 and related Public Sector Management Standards, except as provided for in the ‘ACT Public Service Administrative and Related Classifications Enterprise Agreement ’. A merit pool will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months. All employees are required to undergo employment screening. This position is a Position of Trust 1 and therefore, if you are selected for this position, you will be required to gain and maintain a Baseline National Security Clearance or be assessed as suitable to obtain this clearance.
