Contact ***************@autogeneral.com.au The role The Home Claims and Assessing Commercial Specialist Pricing plays a pivotal role in shaping an industry‑leading claims pricing function, driving optimal claims cost efficiency, accuracy, and transparency. This role is responsible for ensuring expert management of building repair pricing and rates, leveraging comprehensive data analytics to deliver actionable insights and robust reporting. The role is also responsible for implementing and maintaining core cost control tools, processes, and governance that aligns with group strategy and market conditions, while continuously enhancing the pricing framework and forecasting accuracy. Position Accountabilities Review, manage and maintain the building repair price catalog, ensuring alignment with market costs, industry benchmarks, and approved rates. Monitor market, competitor, and network builder rates to ensure competitiveness and accuracy. Assess the financial impact of pricing changes and validate internal pricing against external benchmarks. Monitor adherence to established quoting methodologies and catalog guidelines. Conduct in‑depth analysis of complex claims data to identify trends, anomalies, regional variations, and key cost drivers. Establish and maintain standardised cost benchmarks to enable effective performance analytics and cost control. Work with key stakeholders to analyse internal and external market data in order to provide commercially sound recommendations that optimises the Home Claims & Assessing pricing model. Regularly review the Pricing Framework to ensure it continually meets best‑practice standards, generates claims efficiency, ensures accuracy and reliability, and maintains cost transparency. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure pricing tools, processes and systems are fit for purpose, effectively deployed, and continuously improved. Leverage machine learning / AI opportunities to develop and mature pricing frameworks and processes. Provide analytical support to leadership for managing building cost outcomes and builder performance, aligning with strategic cost control objectives. Develop and deliver clear, evidence‑based reports and actionable recommendations for management and stakeholders. Any other duties as reasonably directed. What experience you’ll bring Tertiary qualification in Finance, Business, Data Analytics, Economics, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Cost Engineering, or a related analytical field. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field. 2–5+ years of experience in data analytics, data science, financial analysis, cost modelling, or a related role. Strong proficiency in SQL and database systems; working knowledge of Python or related programming experience is highly desirable. Experience in the general insurance industry, construction cost data, or construction pricing is highly regarded. Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities, including advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas, data modelling) and confidence working with large datasets. Familiarity with Power BI or similar business intelligence tools (navigation and interpretation). Proven ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations. Excellent attention to detail and a structured, detail‑oriented approach with a strong emphasis on accuracy and validation. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels and present findings to senior leaders. Critical thinking skills to assess not only current costs but also interdependencies and future impacts of pricing changes. Understanding of risk culture and how these frameworks could apply to this position.
